Now that Linux Voice has been running for one year, we’re ready to donate 50% of our profits back to the community. We’ve invested a lot in getting the magazine established over the last 12 months, so we don’t have a giant wad of cash to throw around, but we have £3,000 (approx $4,600) to donate to FOSS projects.
So, read the feature on page 34 of Linux Voice issue 13, then choose your top three in each of the categories below. The options are based on the shortlist that readers created, along with some extras. Once everyone has had a chance to read the magazine and vote, we’ll announce the winners!
Keep up the great work guys.
Wot he said 😉 This is a brilliant way to help give something back.
Nice one 🙂 My top choices were Code Club as believe education is sooooo important, and Scribus as I appreciate your enthusiasm to have a completely FOSS-generated mag. Keep up the good work 🙂
What a choice, and to which do I give my votes? At least I can, which is brilliant! Thank you Linux Voice.
Wouldn’t putting the cash on bounties for scribus features needed be better?
Thanks for the magazine, loving it!
If Scribus wins, the Scribus developers can allocate the money how they wish!
Good point.
Who gets the donation?
I’ve spoken to the lead developer and if Scribus wins, there’s a way we can donate to the project and fund feature development or hackathons.
Congratulations to you all for producing such a wonderful magazine. Keep up the good work.
Cheers and Beers.
How do you count the Winners? Like Debian?
I think they use the Condorcet method.
Great initiative from great guys! 🙂
Keep it up! Mach’s gut!!!
Ciao!
Gianf:)
I did vote, but each and every one is a worthy and valuable cause, looking forward to hearing which six get picked. And congrats on your anniversary. I think this is paper or cotton, right?
I’d definitely like to see you using nothing but free apps for the magazine.
Great magazine.
Congrats!
